Phases of the Moon and Tides

One day Taylor was looking at the moon and the moon was a FULL MOON. The shape of the sunlit portion of the moon. The moon revolves around the sun but, it takes 28 days to do it. A few months later Swade was looking at a NEW MOON.Swade thought about the phases during which the whole lit side of the moon faces away from the earth. The next day Taylor and Swade meet up with Sarah to talk about the moon and the phases they saw. Swade talked about the WAXING phases. Swade says that ” the more the lit side becomes visible from Earth are increasing.  Then Taylor talked abut the WANING phases. She said ” that after the full moon less of the sunlit side of the moon faces earth. As less of the lit side becomes visible the phases are decreasing.  The next night Taylor, Swade and Sarah both were laying down on a blanket on the back roads. They were gazing at the STARS. Sarah after staring at the stars for a little bit she asks ” What are stars and how do they work”? Taylor said ” A star is a sphere of hot, glowing gasses that gives off its own light and is held together by gravity. Our sun is many thousands of times closer to Earth than any other star. That’s why it appears so much bigger and brighter than other stars.” Swade asks “okay but whats NUCLEAR FUSION“? Sarah says, ”  The sun is made up of many layers. Most energy is generated to the core. The sun is made up of gases, mostly hydrogen. Inside the core, the nuclei of hydrogen  atoms fuse, or join together to form helium”.”The SOLAR SYSTEM is the next big thing I want to know about”, said Taylor. ” A solar system includes a star and all the planets, moons, and other objects that revolve around it. Our solar system includes the sun, eight planets, their moons, and various comets, asteroids, and other small bodies. the solar system also contains larger clouds of dust and gas and huge stretches of empty space”, said Swade. ” Okay but where does earth come in at”?, said Sarah. ” Earth is one of the 8 planets in our solar system . A PLANET  is a body in space that moves in a curved path around a star such as our sun. All of the planets in our solar system are very different from each other. Our solar system also contains many other space objects. Earth is the 3rd planet from the sun”, said Taylor.
